Rotating table fixtures

ATX Twister – almost eliminates handling times.

Loading assembly groups into the system even more efficiently and implementing re-tooling even faster when test layouts change: these are the core requirements for efficiency in testing. With Twister, our cycle-time optimised rotation fixture, we have succeeded in meeting both these challenges in a highly effective way.

The customer's requirements were as follows:

The development of the ATX Twister was inspired by concrete customer wishes. The keyrequirement was for a high-capacity exchangeable cassette system which would, in addition to fast mounting of assembly groups, would also enable PCB holder and probe bed to be exchanged fast without the use of tools. These two measures provide a clear improvement in cycle time, efficiency and output. They also make the re-tooling process more efficient and cheaper, which ensures that the purchase cost is quickly repaid. As is the case with all other ATX exchangeable cassette systems we have also selected for the Twister a hard-wearing probe to Sip-contact-interface in order to ensure reliable continuous operation. A glance at the system's further features will demonstrate its technological capacities.

And this application is our solution:

In order to optimise loading operations, increase cycle times and minimise unproductive handling time we have created in the Twister an exchangeable cassette system with a rotary fixture. The cover opens automatically to ensure efficient, ergonomic and fatigue-free operations.

  • To enable the Twister to implement all testing operations independently of the test system, 2-stage contacting in the bi-level mode for in-circuit and functional testing as well as double-sided contacting with probes from above and below have been integrated. Probe guiding is also possible.
  • The unit can be controlled either by integrated, pre-programmed SPC controls or via the test system. The SPC controls are supplied with the unit, either in a standard version or individually programmed.
  • As the Twister provides contact pressure of 2N for approx. 400 probes and a probe interface with 400 pins it can be used flexibly.
  • The max. PCB sizes are 125 x 200 mm and 100 x 225 mm – depending on the format, because the board carrier is shaped as a semicircle.
  • Both the pneumatic drive of the table and the lift cylinder are robust and suited to the most demanding production environment.
  • The interface to the test system can be individually adapted to any test system. The Twister can be fitted on top of an ICT tester or connected as a stand-alone unit.
  • In addition to the above specifications we can also supply the Twister in versions which are specially equipped and modified to meet your specific requirements.
